THE ADVENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH TEACHES
THAT God is the Creator of all things, the Sovereign of the universe and our loving Father, who is fully revealed in His Son Jesus Christ. (Gen. 1; Psa. 24; John 14:6, 7; Heb. 1:2).
THAT the Bible is the Word of God and the sole and sufficient standard of Christian faith and practice. (Rom. 15:4; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17). THAT the Lord Jesus is the only Saviour from sin; that He died for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, and ascended to Heaven as our Mediator. (John 3:14-16; 1 Cor. 15: 3, 4: Heb. 7:25).
THAT the Holy Spirit is God’s earthly representative for the conviction of the world and the comfort and guidance of the Church during this age. (John 14:16, 17, 26; 16:7-11).
THAT Christ will return to earth personally and visibly at the close of this age to judge the world and bestow eternal life upon believers. (Acts 1:9-11; Phil. 3:20, 21; Col. 3:1-4; 2 Tim. 4:1).
THAT human history records the fulfillment of Bible prophecy as being almost complete, which assures us of the early return of Christ. (Luke 21:25-31; 2 Pet. 1:16-19).
THAT man is mortal by nature, but may receive immortality as the gift of God at the resurrection through faith in Jesus Christ. (John 3:16; Rom. 6:23; I Cor. 15:16-22).
THAT man is unconscious from the moment of death until the resurrection, a state often called “sleep” in the Bible. (Psa. 146:4; Eccl. 9:5, 10; John 11:11-14).
THAT there will be a resurrection of all the dead when Jesus comes again, when the just will enter into eternal life and the unjust will suffer the second death. (Dan. 12:3; John 5:28, 29; 1 Thess. 4:13-18).
THAT the final destiny of the wicked will be complete and eternal cessation of life. (Obad. 16; Mal. 4:1; 2 Thess. 1:7-9).
THAT the future home of the saints will be the kingdom of Christ on this earth following the earth’s redemption from sin and death. (Matt. 5:5; 2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 21:1-5)
THAT the only divinely ordained sacraments are baptism and the Lord’s supper, immersion being the only Scripture method of baptism. (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:3, 4; 1 Cor. 11:23-26).
THAT Sunday, being the day upon which Christ arose from the dead and the Holy Spirit descended upon the waiting Church, is the proper day for Christian worship. (Mark 16:1-9; Acts 2:1-4; 20:7; 1 Cor. 16:1,2).
THAT Christians should practice Scripture holiness as preparation for Christ’s coming and as a witness to the world. (Rom. 12:1, 2; Heb. 12:1; 2 Pet. 3:11).
